Support the SPCA in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe
The SPCA in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe is at risk of imminent closure.
The Bulawayo SPCA is a non-profit organization that operates to address animal welfare issues in Bulawayo and the surrounding southern region of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is located in sub-Saharan Africa.
It is the only organization providing vaccinations and spay/neutering in the region, dealing with over 90 cases of abandoned animals and animal cruelty each month.
If the SPCA were to close, there would be nowhere for injured or abused animals to go.
The economic situation in Zimbabwe is unstable and worsening.
-- Animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment cases are on the
rise in Zimbabwe, as the country faces economic instability.
-- Over 70% of the population lives in poverty. (World Bank)
-- Many people are abandoning or surrendering their pets due
to inability to afford care.
-- The SPCA is overcrowded and cannot afford adequate
medications and staff to care for all of the animals.
-- Some animals are being euthanized due to lack of funds to
buy food and medicine.
